Russell had watched as Steve left the barn to look things over. He hoped that he would be alright out there by himself. Russell was still a bit attached but he was cutting Steve’s strings so he could go out on his own and Russell wouldn’t worry too much. He knew if anything were to happen to him that he would feel it. Not because of his blood or anything just because they were that connected to each other emotionally. It was almost as if Steve was his progeny. It’s how well the connection was between them. Their bond was one of a kind he was sure. He had a similar connection with Talbot but that was just different. He tossed his attention over to the human. He still showed his fangs and he pulled him closer to him. Steve must have glamoured him because he came to him so willingly. Tilting his head to expose his neck Russell bit into his flesh. Slicing him open and the blood poured into his mouth. He kept a firm hold on him as he drank the kid’s life past his lips and down his throat. His blood wasn’t too bad. He was rather enjoying his taste. Russell was so weakened that feeding was all he had on his mind right now.
Hearing the barn door open against, his eyes shifted up wards and he pulled away from his food. Staring up at Steve as he drew closer Russell gave a disappointed look at the human. Lucky kid. Russell would’ve drained him instantly. “Suppose you’re right. Don’t need to leave a blood trail.” He said as he nudged the kid away from him. He was still hungry but Steve was right. They should save him. Where else are they going to find a human out here in the middle of no where. He relaxed back a little, his eyes shifting towards Steve. Russell knew what he wanted to do but knew he wasn’t allowed to do it yet. He could sense a storm coming. He could smell the rain in the hair and he could feel the air cool. “Considerin’ there’s a storm, I’d say go bump in the night but since we have a dogie bag..” He motioned towards the kid. “I guess we can’t leave him here and he’d slow us down.”
He sat there in silence trying to think of something to occupy himself with. “Considerin’ I can’t go anywhere. There’s nothin’ for me to do. Just sit here and watch the lightening.” He said as a loud clash of thunder shook the ground. “I love storms.” He smirked over at Steve. Russell was always someone into the dramatics and thunder storms were right up his ally.
Steve liked Russell being worried about him. Not because he would enjoy making trouble or anything, but that showed him how much he meant to him, how much he cared for him. He knew Russell liked being a protector, he always took great care of him. He took great care of anyone he was connected to, actually. Emotionally or by blood. And he had to admit, he liked Russell taking care of him. He felt safe and secure. Steve knew how much he loved Talbot and he could never replace him. He didn’t want that at all. He was just glad Russell gave him a chance. He would do anything for him, including killing, draining etc. and he hoped he knew that.
Thinking about it, he sat next to him and held his hand. »I know what you want to do, but you’ll have to wait, my dear.« He gave him a goofy smile to cheer him up a bit, but he knew that was hard for Russell. Just sitting there, doing nothing. Steve knew they couldn’t stay here forever but they needed to stay here just one more night. They both really needed to get some rest and this barn was perfect, for now. He recalled Russell talking something about Hong Kong and the more he was thinking about it, the better the idea it seemed. That would be just perfect. He looked at the boy and saw him sleeping. Turning around and looking in Russell’s eyes, he couldn’t help but chuckle as he imagined him being all dramatic. It was always funny to see him get pissed or excited. He remembered that scene with Salome. It was terrible and entertaining at the same time, but he could never make him angry on purpose.
»We can go for a walk, if you want, but not too far and you have to promise me you’re not gonna do anything stupid,« said and eyed him. »You know you’re still weak and you don’t want to get into trouble. Besides, you have a great ass and I don’t want your ass to be dead.« he grinned a bit. »I’m willing to go out and even get my awesome hairswag wet.«
Russell remained silent, holding Steve’s hand in the darkness of the barn with the thunder shaking the world around them. He knew Steve’s intentions were always good when it came to Russell. Steve was the only one Russell trusted right now and he was sure that wouldn’t change anytime soon. The former King did need to rest but it was so hard to just sit there and not take action. He didn’t want to look like a weakling even if right now that’s what he was. He would make them pay, all of them. Sookie, her idiotic yet pretty brother, Eric, Bill, the rest of those fucking pixies. He’d handle Nora and that red head as well, even that mouthy blonde vampire that Russell found amusing but she was also annoying. He wanted to see the whole lot of them gone. All they do is cause trouble and it seems to Russell that the supernatural world was all cozy till Sookie Stackhouse’s name got involved, then everything went to shit.
His eyes move towards Steve when he turned to face him. Listening to his suggestion on a walk the older vampire thought that’d be a good idea. He was feeling a bit stronger so he knew he could handle a good walk in the rain. He loved the rain and the danger that came with it. He gave a slight snicker at Steve’s words and gave a half grin. “I wont do anything stupid.” He shrugged. “I don’t wanna spend the holidays dead.” And with that Russell pushed himself up to his feet. He had better balance but he could sill feel a sort of numb and sleepy sensation throughout his body. He shook it off though. Once Steve rose Russell walked through the barn and slid the door open. The thunder clashed and the lightening spider webbed across the sky and gave light to their dark surroundings. Russell’s eyes adjusted to the darkness and the moon was getting covered by clouds.
“Feels like I’m in a scary movie.” He hummed and stepped outside. It hadn’t started to rain but he could smell it in the air. He loved that smell. He felt the world around him rumble and he looked over at Steve and took his hand. “Just so you know I wont stray away.” He hummed and kept his hand firmly in his as he started to roam around.Steve had no reason not to trust Russell. He had been nothing but good to him and he wanted to return the favour. He was glad Russell trusted him and Steve respected him so much he didn’t want to let him down. The thunder clashed and he noticed Russell thinking about his suggestion. Steve was no fae, God no, but he could feel Russell’s mind sometimes. He just loved how their minds were connected. Hate was a strong word and he didn’t like it, but it was just perfect to describe his feelings at the moment. He hated Sookie Stackhouse. She was nothing but a pain in their asses. He hated her. And her brother actually. Yes, Jason was handsome and everything but he was also a fool. That Little Red Riding Hood of his, Jessica or whatever and Pamela, they were no better. Someone should cut their tongues out. Not to mention Eric Northman, just thinking about him gave Steve the shivers. Afraid? No, he was not afraid of him, he was angry. They were all just a bunch of, God knows, stupid vampires/humans, well.. idiots. Steve wanted to make them pay as much as Russell did, but first things first.
A slight grin crossed his face as Russell mentioned a scary movie and took his hand. “Tell me about it.” It was so dark as they were standing outside the barn and they could really feel the storm coming. “Oh I know you won’t. I wouldn’t let you.” giggling he gave Russell’s hand a squeeze and followed him.
They couldn’t go very far but it was a start. Russell was still a bit dizzy and shaky but he would never admit that. Steve was thinking about Hong Kong as they were roaming around. “I’ve never been to Hong Kong,” he mumbled to himself, “but I’ve heard it’s loud and they have lights and it’s really crowded.” Perfect, just perfect. They could blend in and no one would know they were there. Besides, no one knew Russell was alive. Win-win. Suddenly they stopped and Steve looked at him. Something caught Russell’s attention and the way he was looking around.. it meant nothing good. “What is it, dear?”
Russell could hear Steve mumble as they walked. Even the twigs and weeds that crushed under their steps couldn’t drown out his mumbling. When he mentioned Hong Kong he shrugged a little as he continued to lead him around slowly. “It’s one of the best places on Earth.” He stated giving him a quick glance. “I did say I’d take you there and I’ll keep my promise.” The hamster wheel in Steve’s head was turning and the ancient one knew he was looking for a way out, a get away plan. Russell on the other hand was still fuming with frustration and yet curiosity. Fae. They were such mysterious creatures and perhaps if Russell could keep his fangs to himself he could learn more about them. There was a kidnapping building in his mind. Oh and also that revenge on the Viking for nearly killing him. Again. That was a bit embarrassing and his head still felt like he was skull fucked to oblivion with that turbo charged fae blood. Not to mention that light. Russell hadn’t had a headache in years and now he found himself with a pretty hardcore skull splitting one. He kinda had that urge to bash head head against a tree and knock himself out till it went away but he knew that wouldn’t help. Only make matters worse. It’s funny what ideas pain put into one’s head.
As he walked around with his beloved Revpire in hand and he took the opportunity to breath in some of that nice cool air. Even if breathing wasn’t a habit of his anymore sometimes it did help to have some fresh air and right now he was adoring it. He wanted to clear his head but it was so hard. Too much had happened. It was like a never ending roller coaster ride for the former King. One minute he’s pure royalty with the world in his grasp and then the next, he lost it all. Then he’s all high and mighty again and just like that, his world was taken from him… again. No matter how strong he tried to make himself seem to the baby vampire next to him he couldn’t’ deny that his world was in fact crumbling around him. Drowning him in a pool of failure. Fuck it. It’s his own fault.
Just as he was about to spat at himself for being an old fool he paused. Stopping dead in his tracks he felt Steve bump into him as he stopped so suddenly. The air shifted around him and everything got extremely quiet. Not even a cricket could be heard or one of those loud Louisiana bullfrogs could be heard in the distance. He didn’t like that. Russell took a deep breath trying to catch the scent of the possible near by predator. “Feel that?” He asked shifting his eyes towards Steve. That sense of being watched and the air around them was so unsettled. His gaze shifted around slightly and even if he was stronger then what ever it was watching them he was slowly starting to shift into defensive mode. “I swear if it’s just a fox or a rabbit I’m goin’ to stake myself for my absurd paranoia.”
Well, ya never know. Anyone and everyone can use a helpin’ hand here and there. Sorta secret tasks, involvin’ faes and humans or.. lack there of.

Lets see. I am ‘bout 3,000 years old and she’s around 2,000+. The answer is yes. Bein’ around for that long we managed to bump into each other a few times. That’s the interestin’ part of bein’ so old. You meet someone, go different directions, then you run into em centuries later and it seems like just yesterday you’ve seen em. So yes. Salome and I knew each other before she dug me up.
